There are a couple of cool cabanas on the beach Azulik, Cabanas Copal , and Retiro Maya are very cool, rustic, and romantic. When do you guys plan on traveling down there? Welcome to the social club, we built the site to help folks like yourself find places of interest and get questions. A couple of the canabas I stay at personally when I go down are Azulik and Retiro Maya.

I have known the owners for many years and both are great spots. Rememebr that Tulum is off the grid so the experience is a 'low voltage/candle' experience. Both have rpivate baths, hot water and a great environment

Hi Scott, Tulum is the MOST perfect place if you are seeking a romantic, cabana style getaway with sun and white sand that is not hot so you can walk the beach for miles making lots of great little stops along the way, you can stop at the other beachfront locations, also cabana style for a refreshment and being in a wet bathing suit is definately not a problem:-) You will love Tulum and I recommend "Zulum" in addition to Russ's suggestions....Annie from Boston

Hi Scott, Yeah!!! you have a Playa / Tulum buddy from Beantown. Celtics had a tough loss the other night:-( and The Patriots are not going to be in the playoffs....not good but there is always next year:-).
Back to Tulum.....I stayed at Retiro Maya which was great so long as you are expecting somewhat rustic accommodations. It is on an abosolutely beautiful beach but so are all of the other beachfront resorts that we represent. You will love Tulum for its remoteness and total peace and quiet, not to mention the beach.
