Hi Kris, I really appreciate your speedy responses. I guess my only concern is that it may be just a little too remote for us. Given our short stay in Mexico we really want an opportunity to mingle with Mexican people and get a feel for their culture, not just Mexico's natural beauty. I hope that makes sense. It is so hard to decide where to go when you are on the last 5 days of a months holiday from Australia and you have no idea about the country!
Hi Kris, thanks for the welcome note! We are heading to Mexico around 8 November. We only have about 9 days unfortunately. We are spending 3 nights in Merida to see the sights etc. Our travel agent has suggested 5 nights at Playa del Carmen. The reason for me joing this forum is to try and find somewhere less touristy. My husband and I love restaurants etc (we are 40 & 43 yrs old with no children) but don't want to stay in a big resort. We would prefer something rustic, on the beach and authentic and then eat at local villages. Would Tulum suit us?? I understand that Tulum has historic sites and has many tourists but thought the actual accommodation might be more our style. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Lou
Thanks for the welcome wagon. We will be there in the next couple of weeks and were thinking about Copal Cabanas. Would you pich Zhara over Copal? Never been there before but suddenly its all over our radar. Also thinking tio go to Cuba. Any suggestions.
Thanks, Martay
Hi Kris and thanks for adding me as a friend. I don't know if you read my post, but I was disappointed to learn that an adult all inclusive was going to cost us about 3k for 5 nights, However, this was not in Tulum. In your experience, since Tulum is "off the gri" for the most part and stripped down, would accomodations be less expensive? Of course I am going to look into it, but I was just wondering from your point of view. Thanks, Lisa
Hi Kris, thank you for your message. My husband and I are looking for a Mexican vacation, all inclusive, adult only, but everything we are finding is just so way out of our price range : (
We really didn't expect to pay 3k for 5 nights. I am sad and kind of disappointed. If you know of any places to suggest, I'd love to look at them.
I think you are inquiring because the Catalonia is adult only. My granddaughter qualifies. She is 24 years old, a college grad ,a policeofficer in Tenn, and very cute. That of course makes me a senior citizen who retired last August and loves Mexico.
I think I can handle that temperature if the margaritas are cold. I'm getting very excited about the trip and spoiling my self, my daughter and my granddaughter for a week. Can you recommend any "must-do" opportunities?
Hello Kris, thanks for the welcome. I first visited the Yucatan in 1974 and haven't stopped going back, over and over. I love the Carribean, Mexico and Belize. The Mayan Ruins call to me, as do the crystal clear waters, along with the beautiful jungles, birds and animals in those areas. The culture and people are awesome! I will be arriving in Cancun 12/15/09, Tues, around 2pm, getting my rental car and hit the road to Tulum. I've stayed in every type accomodations and this time, I'm doing the Blue Tulum. I really want relaxation and pampering, along with my adventures. The only thing is..I love road trips and hope I get my $ worth at my hotel. Guess we'll see. Know anything about this hotel?
