Thanks for the message. I will probably plan a trip to Tulum sometime next year. I want to stay in an open air cabin on the beach. Any recommendations?

Hi Chris, Thank you. Ive been on loco gringo, and didnt realize Tulum had a site. We are staying at Reitro Maya. Is that a nice place? Id also like to know more about the electricty? several of our friends coming to wedding will need a bigger hotel so they can plug there curling irons in? lol
Hi Kris-Russ Kelly suggested I contact you regard to figuring out where to stay in Tulum. We are really interested in either Cabanas Copal or Retiromaya, but we have a travel agent who is suggesting the all-inclusive Catalonia Royal Tulum. WE DON'T want an all-inclusive hotel. Can you tell me what to expect from either of the above properties and what we can expect to pay for food/liquor/taxes/transport? Thanks-Brandi
Hi Kris, One of my friends is joining me the week of Nov 22-26 and we'll be staying at Occidental Xcaret....I'm sure we'll make a trip down to Tulum so I can show her "approximately" where our lot is in the jungle :) and stop at Zamas or someplace along the beach for a few cold ones.
Hi Kris and thx for saying hi.
My wife and I are planning a trip in the near future. We have never been to Mexico but are lovers of the Caribbean. We would love to chat with the experienced about accomodations, recommendations and just about anything to do with the beach the sea and relaxing. We plan to visit Belize and Guatamala while based in Tulum.
Did I mention that we will be driving down from the Ottawa valley ?
Thanks for the welcome!! I choose Tulum because when I came there and stayed about 8 years ago, I just couldn't shake the place so now Im bringing my whole family there and can't wait to come back. It is a truly magical place. Now I just wish I could fast forward time to get there!!
Hi Kris - Congrats on the site! I've been visiting Tulum for a long time and Playa when it had DIRT ROADS AND HUTS!!! I go down there about 3 times a year and consider it my home away from home. Love the Riviera Maya and have friends all over there. The guys who own Om in Playa and Tulum are brothers to me! And one of my best friends has a home in Akumal. I will find pics to post, but it's funny that I only recommend select folks to the area because I don't want "The Ugly Americans" to discover it...Let them stay in Cancun... (OK kind of selfish...) I first went to Tulum about 6 years ago when Andres had a piece of La Vita E Bella - fell in love with my very first "Moon Rise"!! A full moon rising over the water when there wasn't electricity in the jungle and everything was run by generators... my how times have changed!
November will again split my time between Playa and Tulum and might stay some time at my friend's in Akumal and the split the time between Om Playa and Om Tulum having BBQ Sunday on the beach and hopefully a Full Moon Party. I will definately look for and then post pics from my past trips to heaven!! You're lucky to live in paradise...!

Thank you Kris... looks like a very good site for something you just recently took live. Congrats. I am a website designer, programmer, and SEO specialist... working on a new site for Om Tulum right now. So, let me know if I can be of any help. Ciao, James
Thanks for the welcome, I just posted some pictures from when we were there a few years ago, But we'll be back in about 2 weeks so stay tuned for new current pics.....
Thank You Kris, it is a difficult moment for tourism in mexico with all the bad press and specially after the over exposed exaggerated coverage of the flu, occupancy declined 70% and while i think the growing rate for the area had been too fast and out of control, the recovery of tourism is critical it is critical for tulum and the area. this is a great site to talk about the reality of this matters and tell people not to be afraid of traveling and enjoy wonderful Tulum. Gracias.
